I’m reading a book that my friend Barbara Pellegrino gave me called "Life Beyond Limits" by Rik Schnabel. It’s a great book and I’m grateful to Barbara for sharing this wisdom with me.

The book talks about what Schnabel calls "Infinity Belief," which expands our awareness of what’s possible for us to be, do or have in life. I particularly like how Schnabel continually uses the phrase "more is possible." I find this phrase incredibly empowering.

It’s easy to get hung up on "how much" we want to grow when we set out on a new journey. If we simply focus on "more is possible," then we can naturally expand our belief that we can achieve something greater than what we’ve done before.

Having set goals is wonderful. Having clearly defined goals is necessary to get what you want. But life is not merely about attaining one goal and then giving up, we need constant growth. In nature nothing stays static. Things in nature either grow or die. The same is true for us humans.

It’s also easy to get to attached to an outcome. Statements like:

I’m going to lose 22 pounds in 30 days

I’m going to make $10,000 in the next 6 weeks

I’m going to run a marathon in 90 days

These are clearly defined goals. And goals many people would be happy to achieve. But do we really care if these deadlines are met? After all, if it took 45 days to lose 22 pounds, and took 7 weeks to make $10,000 and 6 months to be able to run a marathon, wouldn’t the person be just as happy 5 years from now? It’s good to have goals within certain time frames, but it’s more important to stick to the goal NO MATTER WHEN it will happen.

Schnabel points out that we don’t have to get as concerned with the goal (at least at first) if we simply allow ourselves to believe that "more is possible." More what? More life, more physical fitness, more money, more love, more everything…

Thinking about "more is possible" allows us to tap into our imagination and expand what is possible for us. If we start thinking about more possibilities, suddenly more is possible for us!

Rik is going to be in Hawaii in August. I’m excited to go see him speak & would love to see you there if you’re going to be on Oahu on August 24th. Here’s Rik’s calendar to see if he’s coming near you. I’m still reading the book and look forward to some more great insights!

Aloha,
