Andrea,
Aweber is absolutely horrible compared to greatautoresponder! They don’t send out your message every day (24 hours), but rather every 30-36. So a 30 day sequence takes about 40 days to go out. They aren’t any cheaper. Most Internet Marketers promote aweber, but I must tell you not to use an inferior product with less than half of the automation & personalization features for the same money.

I only say this because I care. If you’re happy with aweber, stick with them. Bt for anyone else reading – please don’t waste your time with aweber if you’re a newbie!

You’ve had your caution.

Andrea, most peaple only use aweber because alot of marketers recommend it. but the truth is, most marketers dont try other autoresponders.

i personaly use and reccomend icontact, ive been with them for years.

Chris,

My business partner likes icontact, I’ve heard good things about them. I don’t like aweber. I don’t want to see my peeps use an inferior product!

I agree with Brian’s comment about aweber… aweber is no longer a inexpensive solution, they used tiered pricing now, not to mention 30-36 hour thing. I love the autoresponder Brian’s talking about here http://greatautoresponder.com

I just looked at greatautoresponder. I’ve been using constant contact for years. It looks like “great” charges per email where constant contact only charges monthly, but on a sliding scale. For under 5,000 emails, it’s $60 including pics. And they have lots of features including a box to put on your site to collect emails.

I have used aweber.

I am taking your advice Brian and switching to Get Response which was my second choice initially.

Thank you for sharing your recommendation here and for looking out for me/us.

OK what if you already have a sign up on your website that is not an autoresponder where people can opt in or sign up for monthly news and receive something for free when they do. This is how I have it set up on my site and then I use constantcontact for mailings etc. Is that the same thing as haveing an account with auto responder

Brian Campbell published this First Commandment of Internet Marketing years ago in his ebook “Perpetual Profits” which I read often as well as in his other teachings to which I was privy.

I have witnessed Brian Campbell turn the success key many times over our careers.

Brian Campbell demonstrates that he recognizes the importance in internet marketing and in ensuring maximum profitability to test, retest and test again as well as measure/track your metrics.

Brian has retested his recommended methods to confirm their current validity. As well, he has tracked the process which he in turn shares brilliantly with us so often.

If anyone else has some current test results they want to share, that would be interesting to discover.

You?

I am pretty certain that many of us that have been doing online marketing for some time have had many different circumstances with the many autoresponders . Some may like one over another for price ,deliverability, tracking or whatever reason they can find. The most important thing is that you get one that will deliver your messages. Tracking is good, setting up templates is good as well, but they all have their place. Some people are just not ready for that aspect of marketing yet.

I actually grabbed this blog post from my book. It didn’t make sense to re-write it when it was time to share this concept.

Great advice Brian, I use Aweber and it does take some getting used to. They added a lot of new features recently for tracking clicks and segregating your lists. And also integration with Twitter.

I guess one of the reasons most marketers recommend Aweber is because they pay out high recurring affiliate commissions for sign ups. Giving marketers a nice passive residual income.

The problem with changing to another service is that because of the CANSPAM compliance you can’t import your existing list without having to send people to another confirmation letter.

I don’t know if GetResponse make this any easier,
Its also hard to find any real impartial advice on this subject, if you Google it all you find are articles written by marketers who have SEO optimised their page that sends you to their affiliate link

I’d love to hear the opinon of someone who has used both services long enough to be able to make the comparison

I see so many people saying that they wish that they were collecting email addresses from day 1 but they finally realize it a year or more after they open their site.

Even if you don’t have a particular use for it yet, everyone should be offering some sort of a newsletter or something because later on you will wish you had!

I’ve been using Get Response for awhile now, and it really takes some getting used to. So this post is really timely, because I’ve been thinking about switching autoresponders. But moving my lists to a new AR will be a real problem because I believe all autoresponders comply with the CANSPAM act, and you have to re-opt-in your list when importing to yur new AR. Bummer!

You also have to re-install all your opt-in scripts. Be that as it may, I am still going to take a closer look at Brian’s suggestion.

Is that 1999 all over again ? email lists ?

What about having a real presence online to communicate with your audience and clients by using today’s tools. Facebook, twitter, a blog with open comments, a YouTube/Vimeo account…etc ?

This is a honest question, I would like to know your thoughts on this. Thanks.
